On April 23, 2013, Professor Shouhua Feng, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and former director of the State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry, was elected the third president of the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association at the council meeting of the association held at Texas University of the United States.
The International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association was founded in 2006 as a result of the merger of the former International Hydrothermal Association (1982) and International Solvothermal Association (1994). The first two presidents of the association were French and American scholars. Academician Shouhua Feng is one of the founding members of the International Solvothermal and Hydrothermal Association. He has long involved in the hydrothermal synthesis of inorganic functional materials and pioneered the application of hydrothermal chemistry in the synthesis of inorganic solid state functional materials. He has published over 200 articles, and won one National Natural Science Award (third class) and three Science and Technology Progress Awards of the Ministry of Education of China (first class).
